As the Recreations Coordinator, you will play an important role in this mission by assisting in leading inclusive sports leagues and coordinating sports tournaments for the JSC workforce. Your contribution will not only promote employee health, but also encourage camaraderie, teamwork, and fun.
Note: This is a part-time position. Hours vary based on events. Weekly average will range from 15-20 hours per week and may include night and weekend hours.
Duties Summary:
You will work closely with Starport leaders, team members and stakeholders to coordinate a variety of activities, including sports leagues and tournaments, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more for adults and youth. More specifically, the Recreations Coordinator will
- Coordinate league schedules
- Manage league standings
- Recruit participants
- Recruit and coordinate referees
- Monitor participants to ensure all activities are safe and enjoyable for all participants
- Assist in setting up facilities for programs and helps maintain a clean, sanitary facility including outdoor field spaces.
- Assist full and part time staff with tasks associated with managing all recreational activities.
- Manage the JSC Clubs which entails reviewing applications, making sure clubs listed on our website are still active, and keeping the webmaster apprised of any changes needed for the club webpage.

More specifically:
- As an ideal candidate, have you must have the necessary knowledge and skills to interact and supervise the participation of patrons, and students. You should also have experience assisting in the design, development, and implementation of programs and procedures from concept to operation.
- As Employee Sports and Recreation Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in promoting inclusivity and equity in all aspects of our programs. Develop and implement sports and activities that reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone in our NASA community feels valued and supported.
- You will need experience planning and organizational skills, along with the ability to review and edit written materials for proper content, format, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Have a demonstrated knack for quickly learning. You should also be someone who can think on their feet, finding solutions to problems and presenting options and ideas to enhance current processes with confidence and discretion.
Physical Requirements
- You must be physically able to lift 50 pounds
- Stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, crawl, push, pull, stand, walk, or perform other physical activities for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in normal seasonal weather conditions while performing outdoor task.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must submit to a U.S. Government full criminal background check.
