As a senior Pressure System Safety engineer with the System Safety and Mission Assurance Division, you will manage the pressure system safety program working on-site at Ames Research Center by coordinating resources and overseeing technical review of ground-based pressure systems and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with applicable NASA requirements, national consensus codes and standards, and OSHA regulations.
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15 , you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level :
- Providing advice to senior management in the coordination of hazard analyses and risk assessments of pressure systems including cryogenic systems;
- Overseeing or performing the analysis of pressure systems and / or experimental facility design data for compliance with safety requirements;
- Providing oversight and recommendations in the evaluation of pressure systems or inspection techniques for compliance with safety requirements.
