Position Overview:The Senior Live Production Manager is a critical leadership role within our Poultry business unit. This role is responsible for managing Smart Chicken’s Live Production operations, including company farms and contract growers.The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and certification programs, and foster strong employee and grower relations while ensuring high standards for animal welfare and safety.Compensation:Our client offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $105,000 to $220,000, commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role.Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee breed mix, feed, and grow out programs to optimize production efficiency and quality.
- Manage health and nutrition programs to ensure best practices for animal welfare and grower relations.
- Coordinate with the Live Haul department for logistics related to broiler growout and producer deliveries.
- Supervise maintenance and operation of company vehicles related to Live Production.
- Analyze grower performance and mortality (DOA) statistics to identify and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with internal departments on feed milling processes and production challenges.
- Conduct weekly management meetings to address concerns and foster communication.
- Work with Safety Management personnel to implement safety protocols and training programs.
- Engage with the local community to enhance the company’s public image and address concerns.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support overall production goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of six years in poultry production or a related area.
- Broiler and Breeder experience is required.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations, including email, Excel spreadsheets, and management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, balance, stoop, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Must follow all safety procedures and wear required protective gear when visiting facilities.
- Biosecurity: Must adhere to company biosecurity regulations, including showering before entering facilities, wearing company-provided clothing and footwear, and avoiding contact with avian species.
- Travel: Must be willing to travel 12 to 18 trips per year for farm visits and community engagement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual capabilities.
