What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Law Enforcement Deputy Sheriff (Certified) position at Nash County Sheriff's Office?
The Nash County Sheriff's Office is looking to several vacant Deputy Sheriff positions. These positions are not entry level positions and require previous or current sworn law enforcement experience.
The Nash County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency that serves that citizens of Nash County. Nash County is 543 square miles in size and serves a population of approximately 95,000 citizens with a call volume of approximately 30,000 calls for service per year. All positions open are currently on the Patrol Division, which works a Dupont schedule of 12 hour shifts rotating days and nights every two weeks, with every other weekend off.
The Nash County Sheriff's Office just completed a robust pay study which boosts starting salary and pays officers for their experience and training from previous agencies. A starting Deputy with less than three (3) years of experience starts at $54,894. A law enforcement officer with at least three (3) years of experience and 90 hours of training (Not counting in-service training) qualifies as a Senior Deputy at $60,753. A law enforcement officer with at least four (4) years of experience AND has their Intermediate Certificate from NC Training and Standards qualifies for a Master Deputy level at $66,203. Those Deputies assigned to the Patrol Division are also paid a shift premium and 12 holidays each year, which increases those pay numbers by nearly 10%.

Requirements
- Must be 20 years of age
- Must have General Law Enforcement Certificate (1 year)
- Must be able to pass background check – physical and drug test
- Must have own valid driver’s license
- Must be current sworn law enforcement officer with one (1) year of experience
- Must live within 50 miles of the Sheriff's Office or be willing to relocate within that distance
