Summary
Nashoba Brooks School seeks an auxiliary programs intern for the 2025-2026 academic year. This program is designed for creative and collaborative professionals who are interested in gaining experience as they consider the possibility of pursuing a long-term career in education. Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work as part of a team in a dynamic school committed to excellence in 21st century education. This is a full-time position with typical working hours of 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Responsibilities include supporting the after school program instruction, support for student activities, serving as an assistant coach in the interscholastic athletics program, and substitute teaching as needed in Preschool through Grade 8.
Responsibilities
Strong candidates will demonstrate experience with and proficiency in:
- Creating predictable and flexible routines.
- Developing and implementing lesson plans that balance moments for free choice and structured time.
- Supervise afterschool homework (Grades 1-8).
- Assisting in developing activities that complement the academic day curriculum and promote development of
gross and fine motor skills, creative problem solving, critical thinking, and collaborative play-based learning
opportunities.
- Embracing the importance of outdoor play on a daily basis.
- Supervising students in the classroom and during outdoor play.
- Communicating effectively with caregivers about curriculum as well as student engagement, learning, and growth.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues, using open and professional communication.
- Demonstrating the ability to lift and transport small children as needed, including in urgent situations.
- Engaging effectively in a dynamic learning community by demonstrating flexibility, the willingness to contribute to the broader community, and thoughtful response to constructive feedback.
- Identifying and effectively addressing issues pertaining to students in Preschool through Grade 3, their learning
and their development.
Qualifications
- Coursework in early childhood education.
- Experience working with children ages 3-14.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to and comfort with advancing the school’s core values of diversity, service learning, and character development.
