The PreK-12 Nashoba Regional School District includes students from the towns of Bolton, Lancaster, and Stow. The three picturesque and attractive communities are located 20 miles northeast of Worcester, and 40 miles west of Boston, with easy access off Interstates 495 and 190. The area maintains its rural character with working farms and commercial apple orchards. Families in the district are deeply committed to supporting their children's education. Residents across the three communities share this dedication, actively supporting the schools financially and through their involvement in active community volunteer programs.


Nashoba Regional School District is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Principal for The Center School, PreK – 5th Grade, serving 485 students located in Stow, MA to begin on July 1, 2025. The Principal is a 12 month employee reporting to the Superintendent of Schools and supervises all building-based staff. The successful candidate must serve as an inspirational leader who engages staff, students and families. Must be innovative and action-oriented and will support our strategic plan, goals, mission and values of the district through a lens of equity. The Principal must build connections and frequently communicate concisely and effectively with their constituents; support and inspire all learners; build a culture of belonging and serve as a strong collaborator who will advance the curriculum and ensure high quality and responsive instructional practices among the teachers and staff to advance learning for the students we serve. The Principal is responsible for ensuring that the school operates effectively and in accordance with the School Committee, local, state and federal policies and procedures. The Principal acts as an agent of continuous improvement to promote the overall effectiveness and success of the school and educational development of our students. The Principal will be responsible for the following responsibilities:


Instructional Leadership

  • Facilitate the development of a shared mission and vision;
  • Encourage and use a variety of strategies to assess student performance accurately;
  • Apply current principles, practices, and research to foster effective teaching;
  • Lead the review of curriculum, instruction and assessment practices;
  • Promote and model the effective use of appropriate instructional technologies;
  • Hold teachers accountable for having high standards and positive expectations that all students can perform at high levels;
  • Work with teachers and staff to supervise and evaluate their performances, using performance standards, and to identify areas of growth; and,
  • Supports ongoing professional development for self, colleagues, and staff.

Promotion of Equity and Appreciation for Diversity

  • Strives to ensure equity among programs and learning opportunities for staff, students, and parents; and,
  • Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals.

Organizational Leadership

  • Applies research and organizational leadership skills;
  • Demonstrates communication skills that are clear, direct and responsive;
  • Creates a positive, informed climate for collegial teaching and learning;
  • Facilitates constructive change;
  • Plans for, models, and encourages collaboration and shared decision making; and,
  • Applies strategic planning techniques that foster systematic approaches and result in sound decisions.

Administration and Management

  • Responsible for personnel selection, supervision, evaluation, and management functions for the school or district effectively;
  • Responsible for all duties as outlined in State and Federal special education laws and requirements and the No Child Left Behind Act,
  • Applies current knowledge of policy formation and legal requirements within the scope of responsibility;
  • Knowledge and application of fiscal management policy and practices within the scope of responsibility;
  • Applies knowledge of auxiliary programs within the scope of responsibility;
  • Utilizes appropriate technologies to lead, manage and communicate.

Community and Corporate Partnerships

  • Assesses the needs of parents, community and business members and involves them in decision-making;
  • Promotes mutually beneficial partnerships among staff, parents, businesses and the community;
  • Interprets, articulates, and promotes the vision, mission, programs, activities and services of the school and district.

Professional Development

  • Model’s professional behaviors that contribute to addressing the needs of students;
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for own learning; promotes an atmosphere of respect for self and others and models ethical behavior.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Organizational Behavior, or related field in Education with Massachusetts certification as an elementary school Principal.
  • Possess three to five years’ experience in an administrative role with teaching, training, and or providing staff development preferably at the Elementary School level is highly desired.
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience facilitating communication and decision making with varying groups both verbal or written.
  • Demonstrated success in the development, evaluation and implementation of school curriculum, instruction and scheduling.
  • Effective administrative experience and management skills, including effective use of technology, information management tools and analysis of data.
