Nashoba Valley Technical High School is seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant to assist general and Special Education teachers with support of special needs students, and implementing aspects of the IEP. This is a part-time, school year, hourly position.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure confidentiality in regard to all student information.
- Carry out specialized instruction and support to assist the student toward progress on IEP goals and work completion under the direction of the classroom and Special Education teachers in general education classroom or separate instructional area.
- Assist students individually, in small groups, or in a large group, utilizing a variety of strategies and techniques to present or reinforce learning.
- Support the social/emotional and educational development of students.
- Assist the teacher in data collection on student performance including all IEP goal areas, work completion, and taught skills (grade, work samples observation).
- Establish ongoing communication with the general education and Special Education teachers.
- Assist teachers with instructional activities including teaching and remediation as necessary.
- Follow teacher directions regarding discipline, turning in assignments, bathroom procedures and other systems.
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) if necessary and as directed by the BCBA.
- Implement accommodations and modifications per IEPs.
- Flexibility to complete other activities as assigned during the work day.
- Maintain a professional attitude and relationship with all members of the school community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, attend professional development opportunities as required.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Reports to the Director of Special Education
