What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gameday Production Crew position at Nashville Sounds?
CONTROL ROOM POSITIONS:
Director/TD – Calls camera shots, videos, graphics, audio, etc. while punching the show on the switcher. Follows the scripted rundown that is provided day-of from the Promotions & Entertainment Manager while also keeping up with broadcasted game action. This position requires previous experience in directing, technical directing, sports production, and in-house production. Extensive knowledge of baseball and previous Sounds experience required.
Xpression Op – Operates scorebug, lower thirds, and full-screens for broadcast stream. Also responsible for fonts used in promotional spots. Expected to translate game notes and provided statistics into usable, graphic storylines in-game. Position follows along in the scripted rundown provided on day-of by the Promotions & Entertainment Manager to ensure timeliness and factuality. This position requires general background in statistics and comfortability on a computer graphics system. Experience using Xpression is a plus.
Shader/Video Engineer – Responsible for quality control of all wired camera shots used throughout the game. Adjusts cameras for proper color temperature and iris to ensure that all cameras match in color rendition and exposure. Other responsibilities include operating a robotic camera when necessary. This position requires previous shading panel experience, knowledge of Sony camera controllers, and previous sports production experience.
Replay – Controls all playback during the game. Responsible for editing plays as they happen to for the director to use on-air as well as exporting highlights/promotional through proper melt procedure. This position requires previous replay experience, sports and in-house production experience, and extensive knowledge of baseball. Knowledge of Ross Mira Abekas system is a plus.
Audio - Controls in-venue music, sound effects, audio from videos, and public address announcer audio. Also responsible for monitoring levels on board and making necessary adjustments throughout the game. Follows the scripted rundown that is provided on day-of by the Promotions & Entertainment Manager while also keeping up with in-game action. This position requires previous experience in Audio and extensive knowledge of baseball.
ScorePad/Stats Operator - Operates statistical software on an iPad. Responsible for maintaining accuracy of informational displays and broadcast graphics by inputting action pitch-by-pitch, recording the digital scorebook, as well as making any changes throughout the game (i.e. roster changes, defensive substitutions, etc.). This position requires extensive knowledge of baseball and a familiarity with statistics.
