Shift Leader for Metal Finishing Department on Overnight Shift

Nashville Wire Products, an established local manufacturer of steel wire products for the material handling industry, is accepting resumes for a shift leader for our metal finishing department on overnight shift for our Northwest Nashville, Tennessee location.

Responsibilities include :

• Directing the work of approximately 12 employees in the finishing department and placing personnel to optimize productivity for production schedule attainment.
• Trains new personnel on safety, quality, proper hanging procedures, and productivity goals.
• Loads parts onto finishing line when short staffed.
• Operates sit down forklift to assist with material handling duties within department.
• Performs regular checks of wet dip paint and wash systems.
• Maintains paint levels, paint/washer temperatures, may adjust finishing line speed and operating hours.
• Sequences parts to load by schedule and ensure parts are not mixed on a hanger, line, or loaded skids.
• Enforcing quality procedures to ensure quality requirements are met
• Monitoring and improving work center productivity levels
• Participating in continuous improvement activities to reduce operating cost & increase productivity
• Enforcing company policies & administrating disciplinary actions as warranted
• Implementing and sustaining a manufacturing environment committed to world class housekeeping

This position requires you to be on your feet and regularly lift weights of approximately 50 pounds onto moving overhead conveyor in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Successful applicants must have a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment where a high degree of accuracy is required. Prior lead person experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Prior metal finishing experience preferred. Successful applicants must pass tape measure reading test, must demonstrate successful hands-on forklift operation, must pass drug screen and 7-year background check for misdemeanors and felonies. Prior experience directing the work of others required.

This position typically works approximately 50 hours per week with occasional additional overtime as required to meet customer demands. We are currently offering a double time for all overtime hours worked incentive.

2nd shift base schedule 3:00 pm until 2:00 am Monday through Friday with additional OT as required to meet customer demands. Please note there is little to no opportunity to move to 1st shift when hired for 2nd shift positions.

• Pay progression: $26.00 start, $27.00 at 90 days, $28.00 at 1 year.
• Rates do not include $1.00/hour night shift differential.

Full time benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance availability first of month after 30 days of service, 40 hours vacation after 6 months of service, 80 hours vacation after 1 year of service, 10 hours of paid sick time every 90 days of service until you have completed 1 year of service, then 30 hours of paid sick time annually, 401k with 100% match up to 4% following 1 year of service, 9 paid holidays, employer paid short and long term disability, $1.00/hour night shift differential and 1 year pay progression top out. We are currently offering a Double Time incentive for ALL overtime hours worked.
