Position Title: Event Captain
Department: Group Sales
Supervisor: Group Sales Director
Position Status: Part Time, non-exempt

Position Description:
The Event Captain will assist with basic duties needed before, during and after an event to help ensure we create a positive experience for all our event guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees private events, including scheduling, on-site management, and client, vendor, & subcontractor coordination.
- Arranges and oversees one-hour private rentals (engagements, photography sessions, tours, wedding ceremonies, etc.).
- Responsible for events equipment set-up and tear-down. Operates sound system as needed.
- Miscellaneous event responsibilities: inflatable attendant, photo booth attendant, etc.
- Provide guests with utmost care and attention to ensure a first-rate guest experience while displaying enthusiasm and knowledge about the Zoo and its event venues.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to interact professionally with both staff and visitors.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
- Ability to responsibly use and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
Education/ Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Responsibilities:
- Ability to work outdoors year-round, including in inclement weather.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period. Applicants must be able to bend, stoop and extend themselves, etc., as required for assigned tasks.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance.
Work Schedule:
- Weekend and evening work as required.
- Some holiday work may be required.
