NASSAU COUNTY Title : GROUNDSKEEPER SCHOOL DISTRICTS GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled manual work on grounds maintenance activities; performs related duties as required.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Employees in this class perform routine work requiring only limited experience in grounds maintenance work, but requiring physical endurance and willingness to perform manual tasks.
TYPICAL DUTIES 1. Mows lawns, trims hedges, rolls, reseeds and fertilizes lawns and cares for trees, shrubs and flowers. 2. Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, etc. 3. Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment. 4. Participates in the maintenance of recreational area. 5. Performs a variety of related grounds maintenance tasks. 6. Participates in miscellaneous jobs inside buildings during the winter months, as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. A knowledge of the accepted procedures and practices of grounds maintenance work. 2. Ability to understand and follow written or oral instructions. 3. Physical endurance; good physical condition.
Minimum Qualifications
Training and Experience
One year of satisfactory experience in grounds maintenance work
