Nassau Candy is a premier importer, manufacturer and distributor of specialty confections, fine foods, and promotional products.
We are currently seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to maintain and repair our building systems and equipment in Hicksville.
The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our facilities. This role requires a hands-on professional who can perform a variety of tasks, including HVAC maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, and general building repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to facility infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Conduct general building maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and flooring repairs.
- Maintain and repair lighting systems, ensuring all fixtures and bulbs are operational.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, prioritizing urgent repairs.
- Assist with facility renovations and upgrades as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work orders.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
- Support emergency preparedness plans and participate in facility safety initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in facility maintenance or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Facilities Technician, Maintenance Technician, or a similar role.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance records.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, and work in various environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in a commercial or industrial facility setting.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Work Environment:
- May involve working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Requires lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- May require occasional on-call availability for emergency repairs.
