What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Manager position at Nassau Candy?
Nassau Candy is a premier importer, manufacturer, and distributor of specialty confections, fine foods, and promotional products.
We are currently hiring a well-rounded Shipping Manager for our Hicksville facility.
This critical role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping department, ensuring that items are accurately prepared and shipped (domestically and internationally), and providing a hands-on approach to warehouse operations and teamwork.
Will be responsible for managing at least ten shipping associates, leads, and supervisors within the shipping and packaging departments . Will maintain workflow processes and promote team success with a collaborative management style.
Responsibilities:
- Organize loading dock daily to be able to receive and ship accordingly
- Provide daily schedules to staff members for scheduled orders to be shipped
- Production / cleanup of jobs shipped
- Ordering of supplies for shipping
- Organize drops for packing and sets up packing for all drops with packing team
- Run drop ships for FedEx, UPS, and USPS
- Work with receiving team and assists daily coordinating trucks both delivering / pickups
- Transfer trucks / weekly
- Create Bills of Lading (BOLs) for transfer trucks
- Backhaul tracker (daily priority)
- International and domestic shipping: In charge of UPS / Canada/Delivery truck
- Canada / international paperwork completion
- Follow routing guides, and schedules outbound shipments as written
- Coordinates all LTL bookings for customers’ orders across the US
- Provides daily spreadsheets of completed orders sent out the previous day
- Provides Quotes for Customer Service to secure future order
- Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely fulfillment and quality of all customer orders
- Work with other managers to request resources when needed
- Adhere to safety and quality control SOPs and participate in facilitating safety processes and practices
- Communicate status of operation in a timely manner to management including any safety and /or process issues
Qualifications:
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in a warehouse / distribution environment in a supervisory / management role
- Strong verbal, written, and overall communication skills
- Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and general computer / warehousing systems skills
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
