What are the responsibilities and job description for the Statistician I (Part-Time) position at Nassau County Department of Human Services?
Nassau County Department of Human Services – Office of the Aging is seeking individuals for the position of Statistician I (Part-Time). This is a provisional position that per Nassau County Civil Service rules can be converted to a permanent appointment if one takes the Nassau County Statistician I examination when it is scheduled and attains a reachable score. Applicants must be a Nassau County resident.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs detailed statistical work in the conduct of surveys, research studies, and reports; performs related duties as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND SKILLS
Gather, analyze, and interpret data.
Provide analytical summaries, and reports in Excel.
Self-starter, attentive to detail, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to train agency personnel on a proprietary data entry program.
Knowledge of computer software programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1. Master's degree in Statistics or Mathematics, including or supplemented by courses in computer science, from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university;
or
2. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with major course work in Mathematics, including or supplemented by courses in statistics and/or computer science
and
One year of satisfactory experience in the collection, summarization, analysis, and presentation of statistical data using computers;
or
3. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
and
Two years of satisfactory experience in the collection, summarization, analysis, and presentation of statistical data using computers.
