Director of Blood Bank (Part-time / Oncall)
Nassau University Medical Center , a leading healthcare institution on Long Island, NY, is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team as the Director of Blood Bank. Nassau University Medical Center is a 530-bed tertiary care teaching hospital that has been the primary source of medical care for millions of Nassau County residents since 1935. The Director of Blood Bank will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the blood bank operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest level of patient care.
In this role you will :
- Manage daily operations of the blood bank, including inventory management, quality control, and staff supervision
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CAP, Joint Commission and state requirements
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain best practices in transfusion medicine
- Collaborate with clinical departments to optimize blood utilization and patient outcomes
- Oversee the training and continuing education of blood bank staff and education of medical residents
- Participate in hospital committees related to transfusion medicine and patient safety
- Manage budgeting and financial aspects of the blood bank
