Job Summary

The HR Specialist will provide support to the HR Department including but not limited to the following areas: recruitment, new hire orientation and onboarding, training and development, human resource administration, records management, and procedure adherence. This role will be responsible for building diverse talent pools and a robust talent pipeline within the organization through the implementation and delivery of leading talent management processes and practices, including immigration, intern programs and student rotational programs.  The role is also responsible for supporting the HR team and various business functions related to HRIS transactions, research, and project work.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the new hire orientation process by coordinating and facilitating first day and quarterly new hire orientation.
  • Preparation of new hire orientation and onboarding materials.
  • Manage relationship with the business and IT to ensure all new hires have necessary equipment and access on their date of hire.
  • Responsible for conducting or acquiring background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Responsible for full cycle recruitment and talent acquisition of exempt and nonexempt staff to include sorting resumes and applications based on qualifications, monitoring the hiring process through UKG HRIS system, scheduling and conducting initial phone screens with job applicants, and scheduling interviews with recruiters and hiring managers, including handling last-minute scheduling changes for remote and onsite interviews.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and success of the Nassau internship program.
  • Represent the organization as an employer of choice to internal as well as external audiences (e.g. new hires, community organizations, industry groups, job fairs, colleges).
  • Administrative support for organizational training and development to include: scheduling remote and onsite trainings, tracking attendance and maintaining training records database, creating online registration forms and ensure invites are sent to each participant, administration of required trainings per state guidelines, and assisting with development of annual training programs.
  • Manage HR email accounts and handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Research best practices regarding HR policy and procedures with other organizations and industry specific sources.
  • Monitor and analyze recruitment and HR metrics; maintain and prepare required data/statistics for a variety of departmental, and/or Company reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent required
  • 2– 5 years’ experience in Human Resources with at least 2 years of recruiting and onboarding experience
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and HRIS systems, UKGPro preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite 3 days per week (Monday-Wednesday) or additional/alternative days as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to self-motivate, manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment, with critical deadlines
  • Responds quickly to questions and changes in direction while maintaining control
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to develop effective ongoing relationships with client, peers and colleagues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and technologically savvy.

The base salary for this position falls within Nassau’s salary band D:  $65,000-$75,000 depending upon experience.
