Job Description
Nassco, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join the team. Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager, this person will have primarily responsibility for the daily purchasing, replenishment, and management of the assigned product category. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in purchasing and sourcing within a distribution environment.
Essential Duties:
· Manage 100 vendors and thousands of items within assigned categories
· Own and grow supplier relationships for the major suppliers in the areas of responsibilities
· Find, develop and implement new sourcing opportunities domestically and internationally for existing and future products and categories
· Responsible for presenting new opportunities to sales leadership team
· Develop, present and execute category reviews and strategies for responsible areas of business
· Work with Vendors to solve issues in a timely manner (back orders, damage, returns, items discontinuation, etc.)
· Negotiate prices, terms, delivery, minimums, etc. to meet or exceed company goals
· Monitor market dynamics on trends, costing and supply levels
· Perform root cause analysis of supply issues and identify solutions
· Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost, inventory, sku reductions and implement changes
· Provide product expertise and solutions while serving as a resource to sales force and customer service team
· Execute daily purchase orders that maintain proper inventory levels and turns
· Responsible for meeting or exceeding key performance indicators of GMROI, inventory turns, and fill rates within assigned categories
· Accountable for managing all slow moving or dead stock
· Sourcing/recommending/quoting non stocks and custom items
· Work with the supply chain team towards continuous improvement initiatives
· Back up to other buyers as needed
Knowledge and Skills:
· Coach, mentor, and train other buyers on staff
· Influence peers and other departments to achieve common objectives
· Conduct detailed analysis with buying, demand, and supply chain functions
· Organize, analyze, and use data to make informed decisions
· Make sound business decisions and judgments with or without management approval
Qualifications:
· Detail oriented, organized, and possesses strong ability to multi-task
· Must have strong Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
· Strategic planning and thinking skills along with analytical and execution skills are critical
· Functional leadership – managed or led individuals or teams to success
· Be an ERP champion within the department
· Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain/logistics or related field
· MBA is preferred
· 5 years of related experience
