Roles are primarily technical
• Is an ABAP Developer position at principal level – lead role
• S/4 Hana Implementation is a MUST (this is the project they are working on implementing S/4)
• Experience with the SAP all 5 modules: SD, MM, FICO, WM and Transport management
• If they have only SD, MM, WM that’s fine
• Or if they have only FICO and HCM that’s fine
• But if they have all 5 even better!
• 7 years minimum in ABAP development experience with some experience in lead roles
• Fiori is a plus
• Skill Set required: Must have SAP S/4 Implementation with development skills in Logistics. Prefer FIORI development.
Overview: The Principal Developer plays a crucial role in developing and enhancing in-house software applications or extensions by coding in technical languages to meet business requirements and objectives. This involves taking technical specifications and translating them into functional applications or integrations between systems, testing, and producing the necessary technical documentation. The developer will adhere to development standards and apply best practices to ensure software quality, innovation, and performance. The role may also involve troubleshooting and providing support to end users for specific code-related issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead large-scale application development projects and programs in a team leader capacity.
• Design holistic, sustainable solutions in a complex environment while considering the broader system landscape.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and configure software applications and interfaces, including creating test scripts and testing applications.
• Lead technical project activities, manage schedules, run meetings, and coordinate with business and other key stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach junior developers, providing guidance on coding best practices, technical design, and quality assurance.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend software and hardware products that align with business needs.
• Design and implement architecturally compliant system landscapes.
• Provide recommendations to improve business processes, procedures, and policies related to system functionality or performance.
• Identify, mitigate, and communicate risks to stakeholders promptly.
• Promote continuous improvement in development processes, functionality, and team efficiency.
• Foster collaboration across teams, including IT and business units.
• Lead initiatives to build and enhance coding standards, ensuring adherence to development standards.
• Stay current with industry best practices and act as a thought leader within the organization.
• Participate in Agile teams, contribute to sprint planning, and apply Agile principles to deliver results.
• Facilitate Code Development/Engineering training and knowledge-sharing sessions for the team.
• Oversee the work of third-party development teams and ensure compliance with project goals and timelines.
• Drive the development of comprehensive technical and business documentation, as well as training materials.
• Serve as the liaison between business divisions/functions and IT teams on projects and enhancements.
• Conduct project reviews, status reporting, and issue resolution to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Lead the collection of business requirements, transform them into user stories and acceptance criteria, and drive Behavior-Driven-Design (BDD) processes.
• Participate in the monitoring and tracking of project progress, proposing actions as necessary.
• Review and evaluate recurring issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term prevention.
• Manage the development of action plans and timelines, focusing on meeting project milestones and deadlines.
• Ensure process conformity and compliance across application development initiatives.
• Drive process automation and the redesign of business functions to achieve better results.
• Maintain executive-level communication, presenting progress, challenges, and proposed solutions to stakeholders.
• Guide the development of project budgets, timelines, and scope based on business requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 6 years of software/application development experience.
• Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage large, complex projects.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience mentoring and coaching junior developers.
• Deep understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including Agile methodologies.
• Strong experience with interface integration (APIs, ESB, SAP PI, etc.).
• Experience working with offshore development teams.
• Ability to navigate complex business environments and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across diverse functional areas.
• Expertise in code quality, coding standards, and best practices.
• Experience in Agile delivery principles: openness, commitment, respect, courage, and focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with wholesale/distribution or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments, particularly in accounts receivable, complex pricing, and tax laws.
• Experience in leading and managing offshore application development programs.
• Command of advanced Agile processes and experience leading Agile teams.
