Description
The OR Administrative Assistant provides physical coverage of the reception desk for the OR, answers/screens telephone calls and assists physicians, nurses, representatives, etc seeking assistance and concerns from the operating room. This position supports and enhances the Manager’s leadership by performing secretarial and minor executive duties.
Primary responsibilities include planning, directing, coordinating and providing high quality, safe, effective patient care in the Day Surgery, Operating Room, Endoscopy and Post Anesthesia Care Units.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
2. Oversee the daily workflow and patient scheduling in collaboration with the Department Manager by scheduleling appointments and meetings and maintaining calendar
3. Act as a liaison for the unit(s) and provides physicians, families, and ancillary departments with direction and/or assistance as needed
4. Responds to telephone and visitor inquiries in a prompt, courteous manner
5. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines and departments
6. Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects
7. Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
8. Maintain required competencies and education
9. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information
10. Assist with budget oversight, implementation of standards of care and standards of practice
11. Implements policies and procedures for department functioning
12. Prepares reports, graphs, letters, memos, etc.; Handles routine coorespondences; Assists in maintaining general files
13. Edits Meditech accounts, enters charges and assists with billing, POs, etc to expedite charges
14. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma
2. Two years secretarial experience with public contact
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Prior work in healthcare field with understanding of medical and surgical termonilogy
