JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Emotional Brain Institute (EBI) is a multidisciplinary institute aimed at addressing fundamental questions in neuroscience and neuropsychiatry. We seek to hire a research scientist to carry out behavioral, electrophysiological, and microscopy-based experiments on animals, aimed at understanding sensory and cognitive deficits in neuropsychiatric disease.
JOB DUTIES :
The research scientist position will involve electrophysiological recordings in live animals, setup and calibration of auditory stimulation equipment, histology, multiphoton microscopy, and other basic laboratory tasks. Further, it will involve analysis of data and writing of research manuscripts, animal use protocols, and grant applications. Travel to research conferences, both domestic and international, to present results is expected.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Qualifications :
Doctorate degree in the following areas : biology, neuroscience, psychology, chemistry.
Seven years of experience working in research labs.
Some prior postdoctoral experience.
Proficiency with electrophysiological recordings in the neocortex live animals.
Detailed knowledge of the mammalian auditory system is required, with evidence in the form of review papers, theses, or conference presentations.
At least two first or senior author papers documenting research results from sensory processing studies from at least two separate labs.
Preferred Qualifications.
Experience writing grants.
A person who studies predictive processing would be an ideal fit.
High motivation to develop an independent research program.
Background Investigation / Justice Center Review Requirements :
