Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL:

Provide music accompaniment for high school performers and overall music for fall musical



QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:  Music Ed, Music Performance or Music Theatre degree prefered

 

Professional Certification: competency in required musical instrument

 

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff and community engagement and cultivation
  • plays appropriate instrument (Piano, but also may need Acoustic Guitar, Cello, and Violin) 

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate.

 

Skills:

 

  • Reads musical scores 
  • Musical Theatre Experience
  • Familiar with keyboard programming, setting up rigs, and performing with click tracks 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
  • Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
  • Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
  • Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production

 

Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent, if such a substitution brings a strong candidate forward.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

 

  • Phone, intercom, personal computer and software applications as outlined above, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers and fax machine.
  •  appropriate instrument (Piano, but also may need Acoustic Guitar, Cello, and Violin - access to piano will be provided)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

Works with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity

 

  • Identifies and addresses bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students and staff
  • Updates policies and equitable access procedures 
  • Study and learn the musical score 
  • Attend required Pit rehearsals and sitzprobe
  • Attend production week and all performances
  • Pit will wear simple costume to be provided unless they are pieces pit players already owns
  • Pit band may sing back up with Persephone on "Our Lady of the Underground"
  • Rate for musicians is $38.91 an hour - plan for hired musicians is to hold a sitzprobe, and then 5 dress rehearsals, followed by two performance days (with three performances) r - pay each musician The pay for all requested dates, along with a two-hour bonus (travel and/or study time), is projected to be $1,264.58. - the rate is $38.91 an hour

 

WORK SCHEDULE

NOVEMBER 25 - December 8th (see next page)

NOVEMBER

1) Monday - 25th -  SITZPROBE- 3:30 - 6:30 (no dinner provided) OR RUN PLAY ( 3 hours) 

2) Tuesday - 26th - RUN FULL PLAY 3:30 - 6:30  ( 3 hours) 

 

DECEMBER (tech week)

3) Monday - 2nd - FULL PLAY  3:30 - 6:30 ( then invited to stay for dinner if you wish, but dinner is not paid) ( 3 hours) 

4) Tuesday - 3rd - FULL DRESS  3:30 - 6:30 ( then invited to stay for dinner if you wish, but dinner is not paid) ( 3 hours)

 

5) Wednesday - 4th - FULL DRESS 3:30 - 6:30 ( then invited to stay for dinner if you wish, but dinner is not paid) ( 3 hours)

 

6) Thursday - 5th - FULL DRESS  3:30 - 6:30 ( then invited to stay for dinner if you wish, but dinner is not paid) ( 3 hours)

7) SHOW Friday - 6th-  call for musicians is 6:30 - show 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm (4 hours)

8) SHOWS Saturday- 7th -  call for musicians is 2 pm - a matinee at 3 pm - 6  - at least a half hour break then return call 6:30 show 7:30 pm ( dinner provided) - 10:30  (8.5 hours)

 

  • Any other relative duties as assigned.

  • position oneself to maintain files and access school/classroom/office materials;
  • communicate with others so that information received and given is understood and accurately communicated;
  • communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person, via video conference, on the telephone, and/or in writing;
  • observe details at close range
  • in the school setting, ensure the safety of students;
  • multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;
  • may need to teach and support students with life skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting 
  • lifting up to and including 25 lbs
  • the noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
