Primary Responsibilities
Inventory Management :Oversee all LBM inventory, including special orders, open orders, counts and adjustments
Perform regular audits to reconcile physical inventory with system records, ensuring data accuracy and minimizing discrepanciesHelp identify and resolve shrinkage issues, with a focus on significant areas like shingles and plywoodMaintain a consistent, pleasant, customer service-oriented image to customersRetain accurate inventory records and databases including item descriptions, quantities and locationsOrder Placement & Customer Service :Monitor stock levels and place replenishment orders as necessary, keeping inventory at optimal levels
Assist customers with LBM-related inquiries and provide exceptional service in person or over the phoneEnsure that inventory is organized, accessible and efficiently stored in the warehouse or sales floorHighlights Do It Best reward program to customers, encouraging their participation to foster customer loyaltyOperations & Reporting :Safely operate a forklift for inventory management and material handling
Generate inventory reports, track turnover rates, and report discrepancies or issues to managementMaintain a safe, clean and organized sales floor and storage areasPerform other tasks as assigned to support operations and ensure the team can provide exceptional customer serviceTraining & Development :Partner with the inventory support center team and store employees to learn best practices before transitioning to full responsibility for LBM inventory management
Continuously improve procedures and processes by collaborating with team members and sharing ideas with leadershipCross-train in other areas to become a well-rounded team member and provide assistance as neededStay current on industry trends by completing assigned training, conducting independent research, attending relevant courses (with management approval), and networking with industry professionalsQualifications
Prior experience in LBM or construction-related industries highly preferredPrevious experience in inventory management requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or relevant industry certifications, are a plus but not requiredProficiency in inventory management software and MS OfficeAbility to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and stock items in high areas (with or without assistance)1-2 years of forklift experience preferredAbility to travel regionally occasionally for training and other projectsStrong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkersDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexibleStrong interpersonal skills with willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skillsA commitment to providing excellent customer service, supporting the store's operations with humility and dedication to the company's valuesWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed based on operational requirements
