We are looking for an experienced Patient Insurance Coordinator to serve as the main contact for National Addiction Specialists (NAS) in handling patient insurance matters. This role focuses on overseeing insurance verification, coordination, and patient outreach, ensuring seamless support for our patients’ financial needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare insurance processes, with expertise in navigating Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance plans, and third-party payers. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide exceptional patient support while resolving complex insurance-related issues efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm eligibility for Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans before appointments, leveraging expertise in navigating these plans and third-party payers to ensure service coverage.
- Review coordination of benefits (COBs), third-party payers, and patient financial responsibility for proper billing.
- Discuss insurance coverage, financial obligations, and payment options clearly and empathetically to patients.
- Address coverage status changes or patient inquiries through proactive outreach and problem-solving.
- Work with healthcare staff to improve verification workflows and enhance patient satisfaction
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 years in insurance verification, billing, or patient financial services, ideally as a Patient Insurance Coordinator.
- Strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, commercial plans, and third-party payers, with expertise key to this role.
- Healthcare and/or substance use treatment knowledge and experience preferred
- Excellent skills for patient outreach and resolving insurance issues effectively.
- Experience using healthcare EMR systems for patient treatment
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare administration preferred.
- Self-Motivated and able to work independently
- Effective time management experience
