The National Apartment Association (NAA) seeks a Data Analyst to support our advocacy research initiatives by providing advanced analytical capabilities. The Data Analyst will work with multifamily industry, government, survey, financial, socioeconomic and geospatial data to produce impactful research products, including reports, infographics, maps, dashboards, presentations, and other visualizations. Principal Accountabilities
- Utilize advanced software tools like Stata, SQL, R, Python and Tableau to analyze large datasets and uncover key trends in housing policy and economics.
- Collaborate with the Director of Advocacy Research to develop and refine methodologies for research projects, ensuring the relevance and accuracy of data collected.
- Create insightful reports, infographics, maps, dashboards and presentations that effectively communicate key findings to diverse audiences, including NAA members, affiliates, policymakers and the media.
- Utilize GIS software to create spatial data visualizations of rental housing trends and policy effects.
- Effectively tailor communication strategies to present data findings in a compelling and accessible manner across various platforms, ensuring clarity and impact.
- Assist with federal advocacy research requests by providing sophisticated data analysis and sharing critical insights to support the rental housing industry.
- Regularly evaluate and enhance data collection and analysis processes to improve the quality and relevance of research outputs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of data analysis experience, preferably within a real estate, government, trade association or nonprofit setting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into insights used for advocacy.
- Proficiency in statistical and data visualization tools, including SQL, Stata, R or Python
- Strong command of primary, secondary, and quantitative and qualitative methodologies and procedures.
- Experience with GIS software preferred.
- Strong applied analytics and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large data sets, statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way for various stakeholder audiences.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong project management skills.
- Strong understanding of the rental housing market, public policy and regulatory and legislative impacts preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to multitask and adjust priorities in a flexible manner to address the organization’s changing needs.
- Strong sense of ownership and initiative.
- Excellent attention to detail.
