What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Intelligence Analyst position at NATIONAL ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION?
Are you a force for good? Do you enjoy providing insights through data and excel at presenting complex information to others that is both understandable and action-oriented? Does the opportunity to devote your talents to a cause much greater than yourself excite you? The Arbor Day Foundation is a place you can do work that matters, with people who care. As we say at the Foundation: life is short, love where you work.
As one of the world's largest conservation organizations, the Arbor Day Foundation inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. We help others understand and use trees as a solution to global issues (like air quality, water quality, climate change, deforestation, poverty, and hunger) that are critical to survival.
We need a Business Intelligence Analyst to provide data support to business leaders through dashboards, automated and custom models and ad hoc reports; helping them understand their operational drivers and make sound business decisions.
***YOU HAVE:***
An analytical mindset. You understand the cause-effect relationships between drivers and outcomes. You are able to see the problem or opportunity and develop analyses that helps business owners make the best decisions.
Technical skills. You’re strong in SQL, data modeling and reporting. Ideally, you have prior experience with Power BI or Tableau.
Great communication skills. Seeing things from someone else’s perspective is how you operate. You enjoy interacting with others and having variety in your work.
An organized approach. You’ve found success by staying organized, adjusting priorities and communicating with stakeholders in a constantly changing business landscape. You consider the impact of work on other areas when designing solutions.
An autonomous nature. Working independently to develop solutions with little explicit direction is your sweet spot.
Experience. Our ideal candidate has 2-4 years of business intelligence/data analysis experience.
***YOU WILL:***
Develop framework for how to deliver insights. Along with the BI team, you will play an important role in establishing best practices for how to work with internal areas to provide value through the use of data.
Build and maintain reporting solutions in Power BI, SSRS with automation and long-term sustainability in mind.
Answer BI questions and anticipate needs to support areas with insights into their data.
Be a partner. You’ll work with business stakeholders to influence decisions and provide strategic value.
Collaborate and learn. You’ll take the time to understand and learn processes and the most important questions across multiple areas. This will help you determine useful business questions or opportunities and define and design reporting and analytics solutions.
