ABOUT NAPAWF
Founded in 1996 by 100 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women, NAPAWF (National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) is the only organization dedicated to empowering AAPI women and girls and gender non-conforming folks to impact policy and drive systemic change in the U.S. NAPAWF is building a movement for social, political, and structural change by building a multilingual, multigenerational membership that encompasses the diversity of the AAPI community.
Employing a reproductive justice framework, we use organizing, advocacy, and communications strategies to assert full agency over our lives, our families, and our communities. The organization also stands in solidarity with other women of color facing oppression and marginalization. POSITION OVERVIEW
NAPAWF is seeking an Organizer in the Atlanta Metro Area, GA area. With title dependent on the candidate’s level of experience, this person support the execution of the NAPAWF Georgia chapter’s organizing strategy and initiatives, coordinate the work of the outreach team, and help build partnerships with partner organizations, community members, faith-based leadership, and other movement allies to build power for AAPI women and girls around a reproductive, immigrant, and economic justice agenda.
The Organizer will ensure NAPAWF’s unique intersectional perspective is brought to the forefront of reproductive justice and voter engagement work in the Atlanta Metro Area, GA and help achieve measurable campaign wins that result in material change for our community. This position reports directly to the Senior Organizing Manager.
LOCATION
This position is based in the Atlanta Metro Area, GA. Please note that this is a 1-year limited term position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Outreach Staff and Campaign Support
- Coordinate the daily work of the Georgia Outreach Staff which includes but not limited to: monitoring the phone banking staff during calls and canvass with canvassers to ensure quality control and hold weekly check-in calls.
- Provide support in running local and state campaigns centered on building power for those who identify as AAPI women in Georgia. This includes leading and integrating civic and voter engagement efforts into campaign priorities.
- Support NAPAWF national campaigns and identify local engagement opportunities for members and partners to engage.
Engagement, Outreach, and Recruitment
- Engage with potential NAPAWF chapter members. This includes attending meetings, visiting worksites, and having one-on-one conversations to help educate AAPI women about their voting rights and benefits of being a NAPAWF member.
- Support NAPAWF national campaigns and identify local engagement opportunities for members and partners to engage.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a member base made up of AAPI women and their allies for the NAPAWF Georgia chapter, through outreach, conducting one-on-ones, and other chapter and program activities.
Assisting with Leadership Identification & Development
- Recruit new members, ID'd leaders, and partner orgs to participate in NAPAWF’s leadership development programs.
- Develop leadership of local chapter members to be leaders in NAPAWF’s local campaigns, the reproductive justice movement, and in the AAPI community in Georgia.
- Facilitate chapter trainings and workshops for our Georgia base and community members.
Internal & External Campaign Events and Administrative Duties
- Schedule and lead chapter meetings, plan and execute chapter and engagement activities, and engage members on a consistent basis.
- Performs support tasks such as data entry, taking notes at meetings, and helping with event logistics.
- Coordinate the Georgia Chapter’s social media and digital platforms to organize online.
- Input data in the VAN and EveryAction databases regularly and track ongoing base-building and campaign metrics towards goals. (VAN and EveryAction knowledge a but not a mandatory requirement to get hired but, must be willing to receive multiple in-depth trainings on the VAN & EveryAction with the expectation to become proficient within a 6-month timeframe).
External Relationship/Partnership Development
- Build relationships with community members and a broad array of nonprofit, local government, and religious organizations to advance NAPAWF campaigns and base-building efforts.
- Perform duties, as necessary, as a member of the NAPAWF Field Department team.
QUALIFICATIONS
0-2 years of experience with volunteer work, community organizing, or student activism preferred.
A valid driver’s license, use of a car for work, and automobile insurance are mandatory conditions of employment in this role.
Previous involvement in a union, workers' rights campaigns, or other social justice-oriented work is a plus.
A strong commitment to the issues affecting AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls, health, social justice, and human rights.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
Basic understanding of reproductive justice, though this is often taught on the job.
Experience and cultural competence working in communities of color in a social justice context.
Willingness to learn, seek feedback, high adaptability, and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work with a team and independently.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, personal planning, and time management skills.
Experience with Google Suite (documents, forms, chat), Zoom, and WhatsApp to facilitate campaign data management and administrative work.
Ability to work flexible hours and travel.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The annual salary range for this position is $50,000-$54,000 - salary commensurate with experience.

NAPAWF covers all premiums and all out-of-pocket in-network expenses through a Health Reimbursement Account (including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurances) - qualified dependents may also be covered. Coverage for employees and eligible dependents starts on day one.
NAPAWF also offers full-time employees 16 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave, as well as paid vacation between December 25 and January 1 of each year.
