SUMMARY OF POSITION :
To organize, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive athletic program to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and stress the importance of academic achievement and social responsibility, while modeling a high degree of ethics and professionalism. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and Middle School Athletics Coordinator.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES :
- Establish and monitor rules, regulations and procedures as needed for the student-athletes participating which conform to the school, NJSIAA and MSAC Conference policies.
- In conjunction with the Athletic Director, order and maintain supplies.
- Instruct and advise athletes on eligibility, rules and regulations, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
- Prepare forms, reports, inventory, and recommendations as required.
- Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records.
- Establish procedures for communicating with team and parents / guardians on a weekly basis.
- Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning.
- Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program both at practices and games.
- Provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.
- Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment.
- Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and / or athletic trainer immediately and implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations.
- Assume responsibility for locker rooms and other areas used by the team.
- Maintain necessary confidentiality of medical conditions as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Athletic Administrator, maintain a schedule that conforms to the NJSIAA and MSAC Conference.
