Middle School MUSIC AND SPANISH TEACHER
Opportunity starting August 2025. Alta Vista Middle School is seeking a dynamic Music Teacher to lead the middle school music program and teach one section of Spanish .
The Position : Middle School Music and Spanish Teacher
- Design and teach instrumental music classes to middle school students
- Support the production of the Middle School Spring Musical
- Teach one section of Spanish 1 (6th grade) or Spanish 2 (7th grade)
- Serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students
- Lead an after-school club one day a week
- Participate in field trips and an annual grade-level trip.
- Design and maintain a vibrant classroom environment
- Work cooperatively and collegially with the school’s administration, the faculty and staff, and the parents to create and maintain an exemplary school environment
- Prepare for and actively participate in all school activities, faculty meetings, and conferences, including those with parents, during and after school hours as may be necessary
- Cultivate collaboration, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, fun, innovation, and excellence in a dynamic learning community
- Conduct dynamic and flexible instruction to address a variety of learning styles and interests
- Reflect on teaching with a critical eye in order to continuously improve practice
- Evaluate and give feedback on student progress regularly using standards-based assessment
- Bachelor's Degree; Master’s degree preferred
- In-depth knowledge of music curricula and best teaching practices
- knowledge of Spanish and ability to teach one section of Spanish 1 or Spanish 2
- Experience teaching music at the middle school and / or secondary school level
- Familiarity with teaching in independent schools preferred
