Overview:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and comfort throughout the facility and grounds for our visitors and staff. This is a day shift position.
Position Type:
This is a part-time, seasonal position expected to last from May until October. Weekends and additional coverage for special events may also be required. The salary for this position is $15.75 per hour.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleans and maintains the appearance of the museum restrooms, exhibit floors, and office spaces
- Collects trash
- Ensures cleanliness of exhibit glass
- Maintains and monitors appearance of floors, furnishings, and fixtures
- Daily monitoring and maintenance of restrooms, including fixtures, during open museum hours
- Assists in the set-up and breakdown of facility rental and special events
- Maintains floor equipment
- Performs light maintenance and repair duties as necessary throughout the museum
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required
Abilities:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures including the safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Ability to operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, hand/power tools and other related equipment
Typical Physical Demands: Continuous movement involving walking, bending, stretching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling and carrying; ability to move up to 50lbs with or without accommodations
Typical Equipment Used: Vacuum cleaner, broom, mop, floor scrubber, carpet extractor, floor burnisher, ladders, and various tools and power equipment
