Responsibilities
Material Handling Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing warehouse and shipping functions
- Supervising assigned staff through subordinate shift supervisors to ensure that production schedules are met, staff is properly trained/cross-trained, and participating in the performance appraisal and discipline processes
- Managing warehouse and shipping operations to ensure that all products are properly stored in warehouses and trailers, appropriate inventory controls are maintained, and shipments are made according to schedule
- Developing changes in procedures, staffing levels, etc. to increase efficiency and cost effectiveness
- Ensuring that all operating machinery are properly maintained
- Overseeing customer complaint resolution process
- Managing staff of Supervisors and General Foreman and non-clerical employees
- Promoting a safe work environment
- Collaborating to improve plant productivity and increase efficiency
- Performing administrative duties and seeing that objectives are being met and communicating with management staff on project time-lines and tasks that need to be completed immediately
- Troubleshooting areas that might cause problems with production
- Other duties as assigned
This is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for Material Handling Manager position should possess the following:
5 or more years of experience in Material Handling
Basic computer skills
Staff management experience
Ability to work successfully in both a team environment and independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven leadership experience in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
Ability to make good business decisions quickly
Ability to manage projects to successful conclusion
