About NBWA
National Beer Wholesalers Association is a national trade association dedicated to the service and assistance of beer wholesalers throughout the United States. Our members - beer wholesalers - are generally family-owned businesses operated in all States and the District of Columbia who are primarily engaged in providing fresh and wholesome malt beverages to retailers in their respective sales States. NBWA performs a variety of trade association functions for its members including government relations at the national level, public relations, issues management, research and education programs, and serves as a central source of industry information.
NBWA is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fill a position of an Assistant within the Industry Affairs Department. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of the IA Department and serves as a primary executor of department day to day objectives.

Duties
- Collect industry data and monitor industry trends
- Manage daily tracking of state legislative activity and assist in legal efforts including research
- Manage department's budgets and invoices
- Serve as a lead staffer in executing directives of the Center for Alcohol Policy including organizing the annual legal symposium
- Draft memorandums and letters to elected officials and press releases
- Develop strategies to implement department goals
- Fulfill routine requests for NBWA members, board members and state association executives
- Respond to requests from allied industry organizations and breweries
- Assist with travel arrangements
- Maintain organized filing system including electronic storage
- Collect and compile industry data and statistics
- Provide telephone relief for Receptionist including lunch on a rotating basis
- Work independently and represent NBWA at various stakeholder meetings such as industry meetings, legislative meetings, annual conferences

- Demonstrate ability to research, write and proofread
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail
- Ability to develop, execute and closely monitor department budget
- Possess familiarity of ordinary business correspondence
- Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrate ability to learn and navigate AMS software as it applies to membership applications
- Ability to work independently to execute goals of organization while keeping superiors informed of the developments.
- Ability to lobby and persuade stakeholders of the importance of beer distributor issues
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience in beverage or related industry is a plus
- Knowledge of SAP Concur for invoice and expense reimbursement
- Legal or academic research experience
