The National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) is seeking a Systems Administrator to assist the organization.
Founded in 1951, the National Board of Examiners in Optometry is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization whose examinations are universally accepted for optometric licensure in the United States and internationally. NBEO’s mission is to protect the public by developing, administering, scoring, and reporting results of valid examinations that assess competence in optometry. NBEO has a full-time staff of 26 and utilizes over 100 optometrists as subject matter experts nationwide in support of its examination programs. NBEO is one of the few national boards in any profession with a repertoire of exams that include computer-based tests, an advanced competence exam, and clinical skills test using standardized patients at the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry (NCCTO). This role is a full-time, onsite position based in Charlotte, NC.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Technology Projects, the Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the NBEO IT network including the NCCTO systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provide technical support to the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry (NCCTO)
• Maintain/manage servers devoted to the organization
• Work with external end users on software related issues
• Responsible for operational tasks and duties required to maintain smooth running of network systems and services
• Create, update, and maintain all Test Center (NCCTO) video editing/archiving jobs where needed
• Create and maintain a technical documentation repository
• Troubleshoot all networking/hardware/software issues with servers and workstations to determine and implement necessary remediation steps
• Serve as a primary interface to the computing services that are supported by the information technology and resources department to effect real time problem analysis and resolutions
• Find timely solutions for problems to ensure good service relationships and satisfaction, eliminate downtime, and prevent cost overruns
• Maintain and manage the ticketing system, reassign where needed and following up on open tickets
• Work within the organization to appropriately assess and define project needs
• Assist in security initiatives as directed by the Associate Director of IT
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedule for server maintenance, security, back-ups, updates, and testing protocols
• Create, update, and maintain contingency plans / disaster recovery plans for all systems and services across the organization
• Make recommendations to upper management on network performance, hardware, and/or software upgrades
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents in conjunction with IT leadership
• Assist with special projects at the direction of the Associate Director of IT Projects or Associate Director of IT in conjunction with the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry. An individual must possess the following technical knowledge:

· Demonstrated competency with layer 2 networking
· Windows Server 2012

· Microsoft SQL Server
· Batch and/or Powershell scripting
· Desktop support experience
