MAINTENANCE PLANNER/SUPERVISOR
The Company currently has a need for a Maintenance Planner / Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning function within the Department. This involves the detailed coordination and execution of major maintenance activities, work orders (including parts), manpower projections and determination of outside service requirements, estimates and durations.
In addition, the Maintenance Planner will perform the functions as described below and must have the desired skills, experience and aptitude:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and maintains major maintenance work order backlog
2. Develops major maintenance schedules and coordinates activities with other departments
3. Handles small to medium size plant-projects as assigned
4. Assists Maintenance Manager with budget preparation
5. Works closely with other maintenance functions to understand/clarify equipment needs
6. Ensure plant maintenance, quality control, and maintenance performed by crews and/or contractors.
7. Ensures the appropriate usage of parts, identifying improvement opportunities that will lead to higher equipment reliability, improved repair procedures or reduced cost.
8. Performs daily inspection of machinery and equipment at the plant
9. Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions.
10. Communicates timely and effectively with the departmental personnel to keep them informed about major problems.
11. Subject to call-in for mission critical repairs.
12. Lead work teams through example and motivation, instruction, coaching, discipline, and otherwise oversee employee work performance as necessary.
13. Resolve employee issues to levels provided for within the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
14. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, plant rules, environmental and safety procedures, and laws.
15. Coordinate with other departments to ensure completion of work orders, preventive maintenance, and proactive identification of equipment reliability issues.
16. Must comply with and enforce company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
17. Ensure the competence of Mechanical Tradespersons through the identification training needs, and day to day coaching and counseling.
18. Perform other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- College degree preferred, High school diploma or GED required, with 1-5 years related work experience preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the necessary required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job in a large industrial manufacturing industry.
- Must comply with company safety rules and regulations (MSHA, OSHA) and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to influence safety practices and initiatives
- Ability to work as a team member with strong time management and record keeping skills
- Able to conduct area/job inspections to ensure work completed without defects and is in compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, JDE, AutoCad)
- Good understanding of procurement policies including contract administration
- Must have availability to work some nights/weekends and off-hour call outs
- Ability to access all areas of the plant as required in order to perform duties of the position
- Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English language, communicate positively with employees, customers and vendors at all levels.
- Must be able to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty and near hot kiln process.
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground).
- Climb stairs and ladders as high as 400 feet in elevation
- Physical ability to climb on equipment to provide supervision during work
- Drive vehicle to various work locations.
- Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs and stockpiles, stoop, crawl under and into enclosed spaces.
