PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure plant maintenance, quality control, and maintenance performed by crews and/or contractors.
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Identifies mechanic’s development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
- Ensures the appropriate usage of parts, identifying improvement opportunities that will lead to higher equipment reliability, improved repair procedures or reduced cost.
- Performs daily inspection of machinery and equipment at the plant.
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions.
- Communicates timely and effectively with the Maintenance Planner to keep them informed about major problems.
- Subject to twenty-four (24) hour call-in for mission critical repairs.
- Lead work teams through example and motivation, instruction, coaching, discipline, and otherwise oversee employee work performance.
- Resolve employee issues to levels provided for within the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, plant rules, environmental and safety procedures, and laws.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure completion of work orders, preventive maintenance, and proactive identification of equipment reliability issues.
- Must comply with and enforce company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
- Ensure the competence of Mechanical Tradespersons through the identification training needs, and day to day coaching and counseling.

- Serve on interview panels for the selection of candidates for hire (as necessary).
- Conduct and/or provide input into performance evaluations, recommendations for promotions, lateral changes, demotions, and disciplinary actions to include employee terminations.
- Provide work leadership and/or direction and schedule work in order to meet organizational and operational goals, objectives, and deadlines
This position reports to the Maintenance Coordinator
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required, with 1-5 years related work experience preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the necessary required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job in a large industrial manufacturing industry.
- Physical Requirements: frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing.
- Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English language, communicate positively with employees, customers and vendors at all levels.
- Must be able to see and hear safety indicators and warnings.
- Pass required physical examination and drug screens.
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty and near hot kiln process.
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground).
- Climb stairs and ladders as high as 400 feet in elevation.
- Physical ability to climb on equipment to provide supervision during work.
- Lift objects of various dimensions and weights.
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands.
- Ability to operate foot pedals with both feet.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
- Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels.
- Ability to work in cramped quarters.
- Drive vehicle to various work locations.
- Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs and stockpiles, stoop, crawl under and into enclosed spaces.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
