NCSC is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting group. This is a full-time in-office position with a Monday through Friday schedule. The Staff Accountant, reporting directly to the Accounting Director, performs a variety of technical and analytical accounting tasks. Working in a high-volume environment, this hands-on Staff Accountant is responsible for functions such as accounts receivable, reconciliations, annual filings, and other daily, monthly and yearly accounting tasks.

- Demonstrates conduct that upholds the basic Core Values of NCSC
- Manages accounts receivable
- Reviews and posts cash receipts to accounts receivable
- Communicate and follow-up on the pending accounts receivables
- Assists with the subawards accounts for audit and reporting
- Reconciles bank statements, domestic and foreign (high volume)
- Prepares or assists with calculating available bank balances and forecasting cash flow
- Maintains prepaid accounts
- Maintains fixed assets list for audit
- Manages state annual filings and business licenses (50 states), and other requests with regards to forms and monthly filings including property, insurance, charitable organizational filing, state dues, etc.
- Assists with investment entries to Costpoint accounting system
- Prepares accounts payable vouchers for accounting dept
- Reconciles liability and asset balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and record journal entries
- Reviews entries in Costpoint for accuracy
- Assists with annual audits and prepares documentation as needed
- Creates and maintains SOPs to document new and existing processes
- Identify, recommend and implement process improvement initiatives
- Assist the Director, Financial & Reporting when needed
- Special projects and reporting as assigned

- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance required
- 3 years of general accounting experience that includes accounts receivable and financial reporting
- Knowledge of GAAP at a level that demonstrates the ability to perform duties and responsibilities of the position independently and to achieve outcomes that meet required standards
- Experience with Deltek/Costpoint and/or Stampli, preferred
- Solid understanding of accounting
- Working knowledge in MS Office, with and emphasis in Excel - building spreadsheets, preparing reports, and manipulating data
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a high-volume, fast paced environment and to prioritize tasks meet established deadlines
- Ability to apply accounting and auditing principles
- A high degree of accuracy and ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Maintains confidentiality of financial, vendor and employee information

The annual starting salary for this role is between $68,640 - $75,000, factors which affect starting pay within the range include education, experience, and other qualifications as it relates to the position.
