POWER EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Power Equipment Operator have two categories PE-1 and PE-2. They are exposed to working and moving machinery and equipment. They also drive truck so they must be at least 21 years old (due to interstate travel) with a valid Class A Driver’s License and DOT Medical Card and be registered with the Clearinghouse. They have to complete daily preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain a clean and litter free environment inside equipment, filling the fuel tank and communicating with mechanics to schedule repairs. Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored.

They have the ability like communicate information, computer skills, estimating skills (estimating the time and tools to do the job). They work with the project managers, the contractors and/or the job supervisor to get the project done in a timely, orderly and safe manner. Equipment Operator work with General laborers/ Laborer Operator that have the drive to be in the informal apprenticeship to run the equipment for PE-2 the right and safe way.

PE-1 run the large equipment like 135, 290, 300 excavators, 650 bulldozer, 755 trac loader, 744 loader. They also run the smaller equipment. Most of the time the equipment is truck in and left. They do heave demolition, like tearing down houses and building. They do pavement tear out like parking lot, road way and bridges. They also load crusher and loading recycle in to dump trucks and side dump.

PE-2 run the smaller equipment like bobcat skid loader, the bobcat excavators and 135 excavators. They run dump truck with trailer to get their equipment to job sites. They do driveway tear out, curb grading, building demolition and go into job site that are to small for the large equipment.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
