The position is to support the Appraisal Department’s Chief Appraiser in completing key tasks needed to manage the flow of appraisal assignments, appraisal reviews, appraiser ratings, special project assistance, and to ensure the critical separation of responsibilities between the Appraisal Department, the Loan Processing, and Underwriting functions in Arlington and New York. The position will also be responsible for assisting in analyzing and reviewing commercial real estate appraisal reports.
1. Appraisal Analysis and Review: Analyzes appraisal reports to ensure that they meet FIRREA, USPAP and NCB appraisal requirements, checks math for accuracy, and will be expected to expand the review depth with evidence of greater knowledge of appraisal methodology; contacts and follows up with appraisers for clarity on adjustments or appraisal methods, as appropriate, to ensure compliance; understand and follow real estate market trends; maintains a current knowledge of FIRREA and USPAP requirements to prevent appraisal violations; and maintains knowledge of loan product underwriting guidelines, and internal policies and procedures. Also, includes FNMA DUS file creation and edits as needed. (Primary responsibility is with IT and the Capital Markets Group) 40%
2. Appraisal Ordering and Tracking: Order appraisals and appraisal reviews upon receipt of request whether through RIMS or other channels; confirm acceptance of the awarded assignments; ensure delivery of property data to the vendor; ensure timely receipt of all assignments; ensure distribution of reports to internal departments when not automated; maintain tracking of deliveries; store all reports in the appropriate drives; and communicate with internal and external users to answer questions and resolve issues. 25%
3. Appraiser Tracking and Monitoring: Input appraiser scoring data into Excel tools; analyze monthly and quarterly appraiser performance monitoring using Excel; and collect all data needed to approve new appraisers and review it with the Chief Appraiser for formal acceptance. 15%
4. Invoicing: Process invoices from appraisers and appraisal reviewers with the Accounts Payable Department and resolve questions and issues on payments with Vendors. 5%
5. Special Projects: Work on periodic special reports and analyses needed to assist the Chief Appraiser, including semi-annual market reports. 15%
Minimum Qualifications Include:
- College degree in finance or related field, plus 1 to 3 years comparable experience including real estate analysis and real estate appraisal experience is desired.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
