The Workforce Development Specialist focuses on helping the organization build its capacity to provide robust employment and career development opportunities for low-income residents. The Specialist will develop partnerships, resources, and referral systems to connect residents with employment and training resources and employment leads. This position will play a lead role in the execution of CORE Academy, an innovative workforce training program preparing individuals to enter the field of property management.
Specific functions that will be required in this role include but are not limited to : collaborating with property management and program staff to develop effective workforce training programs; identifying and connecting with community resources, grant opportunities, employer referral pipelines, and other career services collaboratives; providing staff training activities and workshops; and data management and reporting. The Specialist will also work closely with National CORE's Learning & Development team and Hope's program team to identify and address barriers to employment that residents may be facing. This position will report to the Director of Program Quality and Data Management of the Hope through Housing Foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Outreach and Training
- Identify and develop partnerships with vocational schools, colleges, nonprofits, career centers and other career development entities throughout the National CORE portfolio.
- Create career development training materials and resources for residents and partners
- In partnership with Hope's program team, coordinate career services workshop programming, including outreach, implementation, and evaluation of the workshops.
- Conduct workshops, orientations, or other training and outreach activities for residents related to workforce development or career training topics.
- Conduct outreach to employers to identify on-the-job training and / or direct job placement sites for residents; maintain cooperative relationships with employers, academic and vocational training institutions; identify appropriate job placement / training opportunities for residents; maintain understanding of local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to residents.
- Must attend company sponsored events that relate to the development of the team, which, from time to time, may include overnight stay at locations away from the employee's home.
