DESCRIPTION
The Education Gallery Associate delivers highly effective, guest-focused museum experiences for visitors with exceptional customer service and adept delivery of educational content. This position engages children and adults in creative experiences that spark interest in science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts. The Education Gallery Associate will work in the McMichael Family Education Gallery, engaging visitors through interaction within the galleries, and facilitating themed workshops/activities, and demonstrations. This facilitation includes ensuring that the Museum's policies are upheld, that the gallery is reset and maintained as needed for visitor interactions, and that visitors enjoy their experience at the National Corvette Museum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the development and implementation of activities, program ideas, and special projects related to the education gallery and museum exhibits.
- Welcomes and interacts with guests on the museum floor and facilitates proper use of equipment.
- Participates in the evaluation of activities and troubleshoots where necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
- Advocates agile thinking in guests by encouraging and appreciating creativity and flexibility.
- Ensures safety procedures are always followed.
- Assists with museum events and initiatives.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
- Performs general tidying and resetting of the gallery including routine cleaning and sanitizing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Flexible presentation skills that can make any content fun and engaging for a variety of ages.
- Experience working with diverse groups of varying sizes, keeping participants engaged throughout programming.
- Has an approachable personality.
- Independent, self-directed learner with a strong curiosity and passion for learning, with an excitement for new challenges.
- Portrays an infectious enthusiasm and positive energy, especially during busy situations.
- Experience in customer service, interpersonal skills, and a high level of initiative are a must.
- Experience working in a teaching environment, within a formal education setting preferred, as well as a basic understanding of S.T.R.E.A.M. concepts.
- Valid state driver’s license required.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Must have sufficient mobility to move around the Museum.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
