STATUS: Full time / Exempt
LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site, 3 days/week remote)

The National Council States Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is an independent, not-for-profit organization through which nursing regulatory bodies act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting public health, safety and welfare, including the development of nursing licensure examinations. JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled APRN to join our Nursing Regulation team. The ideal candidate will bring value to the team by providing expert advisory assistance in the implementation of regulatory projects, programs and services in support of nursing regulators in their mandate to protect the public.
Reporting to the Chief Officer, Nursing Regulation, the APRN Senior Policy Advisor and will build relationships with the membership, coalitions and other stakeholders to effectively address regulatory and policy issues. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership on nursing practice and APRN issues for the profession. Builds relationships with the membership, coalitions and other stakeholders, and works with them to effectively address regulatory and policy issues.
- Works as part of NCSBN’s legislative team to get APRN Consensus and APRN Compact legislation passed. Develops legislative resources and strategies as needed.
- Serves as an expert and resource related to nursing practice and APRNs for the membership. Is responsive to inquiries, provides presentations, and alerts them to state and national practice and APRN issues.
- Participates in Nursing Regulation team projects related to nursing practice and APRNs.
- Represents NCSBN at external meetings, provides presentations, gives regulatory input into discussions.
- Provides leadership for the APRN Roundtable and staffs committees when needed. Contributes to the overall functioning of the division of Nursing Regulation, and the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- APRN required.
- Master’s degree or higher required. Five years of clinical nursing experience, including education and regulatory experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Experience working with policy or regulation, and nursing publications required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, customer service, problem solving, and leadership skills required.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments in a team-based environment emphasizing flexibility in activities. Experience in program development and/or project management.
- Willing to travel and perform public speaking on outreach services related issues.
