Commercial Estimator
Overview: National Carpet Outlet, Inc. and National Granite Luxuries, LLP dba/National Design Mart's Commercial Estimator is responsible for evaluating costs through each stage of design and construction of assigned projects. This includes performing research, gathering quotations, preparing reports, and monitoring forecast plans.
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in a related field preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to participate effectively as a team member.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to use personal vehicle for traveling to various job sites.
Responsibilities
- Sales Activities (90%)
- Collect bids and compile material costs to submit to contractors to award bid.
- Calculate bids based on a detailed breakdown of labor and materials costs and estimating profit margins for each job.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, planners, and other team members to develop plans for new projects.
- Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other parties involved to ensure deadlines are met.
- Determine the cost of labor, materials, equipment, and other resources needed for each phase of the project.
- Conduct research on current costs of materials and labor rates.
- Prepare detailed estimates of project costs based on drawings, plans, and specifications provided by clients.
- Create budgets for projects and ensure that budgets are adhered to throughout the duration of the project.
- Present budgets, reports, and project plans.
- Knowledge & Training (10%)
- Identify personal growth needs and improvement opportunities.
- Learn and become proficient in companywide flooring software (RFMS).
- Suggest processes to improve operational efficiencies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a retail store environment.
- Occasional lifting, up to 15 pounds.
