Position Summary
The Biomedical Technician I maintains, calibrates and repairs company and customer infusion pumps, as well as ensures that all biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards. The ideal candidate has a background in testing and repairing biomedical equipment and currently holds or is working towards certifications with multiple types of equipment. Individual must be willing to perform warehousing tasks, as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean/disinfect infusion pumps according to manufacturer specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM), and safety inspections on biomedical equipment
- With minimal supervision, evaluate biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs
- Follow appropriate policies, procedures and protocols and complete necessary documentation
- Maintain daily communications with biomedical and operational teams, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up of equipment demands and customer satisfaction concerns
- Work as a member of the team by assisting other team members on basic and complex repairs, when needed
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule set by management.
- Ensure proper care of tools and test equipment, as well as maintain scheduled calibration.
- Maintain approved parts inventory
- Provide customers with technical support, as needed
- Perform light warehousing duties including receiving and shipping of infusion pumps
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding the safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.
- Additional certifications/training, as needed, per management requirements
- Complete all paperwork and computer data entry accurately and promptly to ensure complete documentation for billing and required regulatory compliance
- Study technical manuals and attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge.
- Travel and onsite work may be required
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or biomedical equipment technology

Alternative qualifications include: Equivalent military training
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
- Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology (CABT) with minimum of 3 years of experience
- Manufacturer certifications held for IV infusion pump repair/maintenance
- Soldering and/or circuitry experience
- Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy to understand manner
