What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP of Business Development position at National Energy Improvement Fund LLC?
The National Energy Improvement Fund, LLC (NEIF), the nation’s only Certified B Corp lender for energy efficiency improvements, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented professional to expand and lead its national business development team. This is a key role in developing and deepening relationships with high-integrity HVAC, remodeling and energy efficiency and renewable energy contractors. The primary focus is to grow the company’s national residential energy improvement financing volume, promoting NEIF’s mission of increasing the affordability of improvements that make homes and buildings efficient, safe, healthy and comfortable. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing sales teams, working with contractors who service the energy efficiency and HVAC industry and the ability to engage with program partners such as utilities, distributors, manufacturers and trade associations to increase usage of NEIF’s programs. Experience in incorporating financing into the contractor's sales process is advantageous, but not mandatory.
Compensation: On-Target Earnings (OTE) $150,000 to $250,000, Base Salary & Monthly Commission based on closed loan volume, after meeting monthly thresholds and targets.
Work Environment: Remote office hybrid, primarily remote. Proximity within 150 miles of NEIF HQ in Allentown, PA with expected bi-weekly visits for an initial three months, then quarterly on-site meetings and as needed.
Travel Required: Regional for contractor outreach and to effectively manage a national Business Development team, attend events etc. (estimated, 40% of time).
Expectations and Goals
- Establish, nurture and manage a pro-active contractor-focused sales culture to meet and exceed NEIF’s energy financing objectives.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all programs offered by NEIF and its competitors, with a primary focus on residential lending
- Identify industry and product trends
- Working with Executive Management, develop a comprehensive business development and contractor engagement system and a consistent and successful business development team management process to 1) actively recruit new Approved Contractors for all program offerings and 2) increase usage of NEIF’s program by existing Approved Contractors
- Manage Business Development team to ensure company policies are followed and that volume targets are met or exceeded by Business Development team
- Engage with trade associations, utilities and distributor/manufacturer program partners to develop and expand contractor relationships, including attending and presenting/exhibiting at member meetings, trade shows and events
- Meet or exceed personal production targets for designated programs and territories.
- Increase usage of all programs by NEIF Approved Contractors
- Provide regular reporting to Executive Management on Business Development trends, team outreach and production statistics
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior sales or business development role, as least 2 years of experience managing and leading a sales team
- Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the HVAC, remodeling, energy efficiency/renewable sectors, particularly in residential markets. Preferred/Bonus: Previous experience building and managing relationships with residential contractors and distributors
- Understanding of Metrics: Ability to track and analyze performance data, providing detailed reporting and insights to executive management to help drive continuous improvements
- Event and Presentation Experience: Comfort and skill in presenting at trade shows, industry events, and association meetings to develop contractor relationships and raise awareness of financing programs
- Education or Equivalent Experience: Relevant bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Or a comparable level of professional experience in energy efficiency, home improvement, or a related industry
