Job description
we are seeking a forward-thinking, creative Director of Product Design, to lead and grow our product design team! National Equity Project has differentiated itself with the US consumer by creating modern and simple user experiences, typically not seen in the complicated benefits market. This position will play a key role in driving our advantages in this space by defining product design strategy, as well as designing end-to-end experiences that serve our internal and external users.
Responsibilities
• Define the user experience strategy at Lively and refine practices to enable scaling across business applications.
• Establish goals and target metrics that design decisions can be mapped to.
• Individually contribute to the success of the Product Design team by owning one or more customer experiences. This will be a player/coach type of position.
• Build, evolve and scale UX processes, standards, and tools.
• Mentor and coach Product Designers in a motivating and supportive manner and keep the team on top of emerging UX techniques and tools.
• Develop career paths and programs tailored to individual team member professional development.
• Gain a deep understanding of our user needs and goals and communicate them to cross functional product teams. Consumer benefit accounts experience a plus but can be learned.
• Create alignment with other groups within the company by working collaboratively with Product & Engineering teams to launch new features and evolve existing ones based on an understanding of user needs, business objectives and technical constraints.
• Translate business goals into innovative, creative and engaging product experiences.
Skills & Experience
• 10 years of UX design experience.
• 3 years of design team management experience.
• Successful experience leading a design team while also being an individual contributor on the team.
• Prior experience as the sole leader of the Product or UX Design function of an organization.
• Passion for the field of User Experience. Self motivated and enthusiastic; confident in their design experience and willing to speak up.
• Experience facilitating activities to gather insights on user needs and goals and conducting usability testing.
• Experience finding simple, innovative solutions for complex problems.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Strong visual design skills and sensibilities.
• Highly organized with planning, conducting, and tracking work.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Product Management and Engineering.
• Ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for the user.
• Expert in Figma, wireframing, and prototyping tools. Proficiency in rapid prototyping.
• Experience with Maze, Pendo and other research tools.
