The National Federation of the Blind is a membership organization of blind people from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. As America's civil rights organization of the blind, the Federation is a coordinated network of skilled advocates, resources, and programs that raise expectations of the blind in society and create opportunities for blind people to live the lives they want. The staff of the Federation are central to the organized blind movement by providing support, professional expertise, and daily contributions to the success of the organization. Working under the direction of the Federation's elected President, the staff advise the organization's leadership and contribute to the vibrant, energetic, and collaborative culture of the organization that raises expectations throughout society.
The Capital Campaign Assistant works within Outreach, which is responsible for fundraising and relationship building. The Capital Campaign Assistant supports fundraising efforts by identifying and researching potential donors. This part-time position focuses on expanding the donor base by analyzing existing donor information and researching prospects from internal and external sources, including donor lists from similar organizations. The successful candidate will support campaign solicitors in all aspects of their work. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to advancing opportunities for blind individuals.
Responsibilities
- Analyze current donor data to identify prospects for increased engagement. Research potential donors from external sources to expand outreach efforts.
- Identify new prospects through existing donors through conversations with existing donors or campaign solicitors.
- Maintain accurate donor records using CiviCRM and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support fundraising efforts by preparing donor profiles and reports.
- Conduct research on potential donors using databases, public records, and wealth screening tools.
- Identify high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations that align with campaign goals.
- Analyze donor giving history, interests, and philanthropic behavior to assess capacity and inclination to give.
- Maintain a pipeline of prospective donors at various stages of cultivation.
- Assist in coordinating meetings, calls, and Outreach efforts for campaign leaders and solicitors.
- Prepare donor briefing materials, including background information and giving history, for leadership and solicitors.
- Help draft personalized Outreach emails, proposals, and impact reports.
- Work with development staff to prioritize prospects based on giving potential and readiness.
- Identify trends in donor behavior to refine campaign strategy.
- Support the creation of tailored cultivation plans for major donors.
- Assist in aligning prospect research with overall development strategies.

Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with database management.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, data management, nonprofit management, etc.) or equivalent experience in fundraising or nonprofit sectors.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this part-time position is $21.50 to $28.50 hourly.
