The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure optimal functionality and prevent breakdowns. This includes tasks related to plumbing, electrical systems, basic carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems. The role involves identifying potential issues, performing minor repairs, and maintaining detailed records of preventative maintenance activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Inspect all equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, steppers, resistance machines), for cracks, defects, excessive wear, or missing parts.
- Inspect motor brushes, wheel bearings, cables, belts and other parts to ensure they are functioning properly and are free from excessive wear and defects.
- Lubricate key moving parts such as belts, bearings, and chains, and adjust tension, tracking, or resistance as needed.
- Test machines for overall functionality, including resistance levels, and movement of pedals, arms, and belts.
- Document any issues, defects, and information necessary to initiate repairs or ordering parts.
- Verify that safety features such as E-Stops and emergency buttons are functioning correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness around motor components, running belts, decks, and other key parts to prevent debris buildup.
- Replace components like tanning bulbs, filters, and massage chair parts according to the maintenance schedule.
- Assist with mechanical systems upkeep such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and electrical.
- After completing scheduled maintenance, the technician may serve as a floating technician for additional support within the region as needed.
