What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Music Licensing position at National Football League?
Overview / Objective
Reporting directly to the NFL Head of Music, this role will oversee the commercial music clearance and licensing functions for the entire NFL Media group including NFL Network, NFL digital platforms, NFL social channels and NFL Films by processing all license requests and managing relationships with the broader music industry to secure the necessary rights and documentation for NFL uses.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the NFL Media music supervision team, process production requests from across the media group and formatting the necessary information to formulate an official request.
- Manage the relationships with recording and publishing labels to quickly and efficiently submit licensing requests to the necessary stakeholders while securing the most favorable terms for both budget and approved uses, working closely with producers and the broader music team to navigate the negotiation and securement processes.
- Research the numerous rightsholders associated with a given piece of music to identify the entity equipped to grant the NFL rights, whether that is a label, another media company, artist estate, independent producer, etc.
- Acquire the necessary assets from appropriate parties to coordinate delivery to producers, networks, and all stakeholders including music files, video content and financial invoices.
- Tracking music uses across various NFL programming to manage the rights and appropriate uses for licensed commercial music uses, while helping us transition to new music tracking software over the coming year.
- Managing tracking documents for music rights requests, clearances and files across a multitude of different shows, platforms and networks while facilitating payment for requests received from labels and rightsholders.
- Supporting the music supervision team with music curation and recommendations for artists, music and initiatives based on their specialized knowledge of the broader music industry.
- Managing rights associated with broader multi-year music library catalog deals that support the NFL Media Group.
Salary / Pay Range

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience navigating music clearances and knowledge of key industry terms
- Strong understanding of the music publishing rights model and process
- Strong knowledge of NFL content and media platforms
- Existing relationships with music labels
- Understanding of current music trends
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in music related field/Music Business
- Familiarity with music IP laws, union and related issues
- Experience handling financial and legal documents

Salary : $70,700 - $89,500
