Job Purpose
Manage the team of designers who will be responsible for the designs of complex projects relating to gas pressure regulating stations, gas transmission mains and valves, liquefied natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and future of heat. Manager will distribute work amongst the team and ensure standardization of designs and high-quality technical drawings and documentation.

$181,000 - $213,000 a year

As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Manager will distribute work amongst the team and ensure standardization of designs and high-quality technical drawings and documentation.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee the team of Designers to ensure that technical drawings are completed using AutoCAD software to accurately depict gas related equipment and systems.
- Accountable that all designs are appropriate quality and level of detail and meet all engineering best practices and are suitable to be stamped by a NYS Professional Engineer.
- Manager will ensure all drawings have a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) in collaboration with the engineering team, listing all necessary materials, components, and equipment for the project.
- Ensure the team is creating drawings that are organized and archived in National Grid’s document management system OpenText.
- Perform quality control checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards, while also adhering to safety guidelines.
- Ensure complex projects are appropriately assessed, designed, planned, resourced and scheduled in a timely and cost-effective manner in order to ensure best value for National Grid.
- Ensure that team revises drawings based on feedback received from the engineering team, ensuring that all changes are accurately reflected.
- Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work, promote safe working practices and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and customer / business objectives.
- Experience of managing and integrating the work of a functional team / business unit and exhibits the ability to provide direction, the appropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable the team to deliver high performance.
- 7 years of relevant engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required. Advance degree is desirable.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License required.
- Understanding of AutoCAD software and the drawings required for complex projects.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and codes for natural gas projects.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools used in the industry.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
