What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Representative A (9) position at National Grid?
We are presently seeking to fill a Service Representative A position at our Liverpool location, with a starting pay rate of $32.97. In addition, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.
About the position: Under general supervision to perform metering services activities; including. but not limited to, the following:
- Respond to gas and electric emergencies
- Perform work related to mandated programs
- Remove electric and gas meters
- Connect/Disconnect gas and electric meters
- All meter programming; Electric and Gas
- Pipe fitting
- Read gas and electric meters
Also, perform field collections activities including:
- Review and process account data.
- Contact and interview customers or their representative and initiate applicable procedures relative to the collection and service policies and in conformance with Company and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate conditions encountered on customers' premises.
- Make decisions and take actions in conformance with all applicable regulations, guides and practices.
- Conduct health impairment inspections.
May also be deployed for emergency work to stand by down wires.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Should have or the ability to obtain a valid USDOT Medical Card (in applicable locations)
- Must pass the validated aptitude test
- Must pass physical abilities test
- Should have educational background in electrical, mechanical, gas theory or HVAC
- Must possess the ability to use hand tools and to handle customer contacts satisfactorily
NOTE: Employees who demonstrate aptitude for the work and establish a satisfactory record during 12 months’ performance in this position will be progressed to Service Representative B. Satisfactory record must include successful completion of Service Representative B school.
NOTE: External Employees Hired into CMS will be required to remain in the department for a period of (5) years.

- Hourly/32.97
