National Grid is hiring a Supervisor for our Gas Field Operations - Contractor Oversight department in Brooklyn, New York
Job Purpose
Responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned internal and external Contractor Oversight personnel to accomplish job tasks effectively and efficiently in line with departmental and National Grid requirements.
Translates functional policy by managing day to day operations to drive greater efficiencies within their own team and ensure safety across processes, pipelines, and people.
Manages inspectors and crews and is responsible for their productivity. Responsible for ensuring that National Grid safety and compliance procedures are followed.
Key Accountabilities
- Monitor performance of diverse staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Contribute to the protection and safety of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring that contractor / employee personal protective equipment, tools and equipment, and materials, meet National Grid safety policies and standards.
- Possess knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes / procedures and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Respond to on / off hours gas and / or electric outages and emergencies representing Gas Field Operations and National Grid as appropriate to other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators, and the Police.
- Support achievement of goals including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response and safety.
- Support continual development of union workforce by conducting Safety Assessments (ESD's) and Compliance Assessments (CA's) and by coaching, performance assessment and appraisal.
- Expected to respond on site or via phone to off hour emergencies for both gas and electric, including weekend standby assignments, storm restoration, contractor damages, large scale outages, etc.
- Responsible to address related 3rd party contractor / union issues, resolve customer issues and regulatory inquires.

109,000 - $128,000 a year
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
